From the Desk of the President Bishop Garland Hunt – December 2024
Friends,
As I join with family and friends to celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, I’d like to share with you heartfelt wishes for a joyous season—filled with thankfulness, gratitude, generosity and cherished memories with loved ones. I hope you will take time to reflect on the reason for the season, while thanking the Lord for the magnificent freedom we have in Christ, along with the incredible gift of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
At the Douglass Leadership Institute, we saw the spectacular hand of God move mightily throughout 2024—as our leaders across the country engaged hundreds of pastors, ministry and community leaders and beyond in efforts related to Strengthening the Black Family, which touches on so many much-needed initiatives such as protecting the unborn, education, economic empowerment and opportunity and faith-based criminal justice reform—all under the canopy of a Biblical worldview. We firmly believe that without God’s viewpoint as a light to guide us, we are doomed. That’s why these initiatives are woven throughout all our efforts—Monthly Leaders’ Live, the annual Our Faith, Our Family, Our Freedom Conference, which was held in Atlanta in October, the Juneteenth Jubilee in Tyson’s Corner, VA, Strengthening the Family roundtables across the country, Jeremiah 1:5 events, pastor engagements and much more.
It is a high honor to partner with supporters of the Douglass Leadership Institute like you as we stand together for Christ. It is because of your faithfulness, fervent love for the Lord and willingness to go to battle with us for a Biblical worldview—that we can do this crucial work.
As we look ahead to 2025, we acknowledge the Lord’s hand upon this nation and the divine, miraculous ways He worked this year. We also thank God for your unwavering commitment and look forward to the power of the church rising against the culture yet again—as our ultimate goal is to help bring salvation to the world, causing people to want to know Jesus as Lord.
“For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
So, as you celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus and prepare for a new year, we wish you a time of joy, peace and love. Thank you for being a member of the Douglass Leadership Institute family. May this blessed season serve as a reminder that Jesus loved us so much that He gave His only Son to rescue us from sin. Jesus is the gift.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
For Him,
Bishop Garland Hunt
President, Douglass Leadership Institute
