A coalition of statewide African American Faith Leaders
Support Lt. Governor Dan Forest statement on Planned Parenthood
Greensboro, NC: On January 22, 2020, a diverse statewide coalition of African American pastors and faith leaders are announcing their support for Lt. Governor Dan Forest statement on the racist history of Planned Parenthood and its dangers to minority communities today. “It is true and I, one hundred percent agree with the Lt. Governor’s statement and I thank him for addressing this issue. It is so important” states Bishop Patrick L. Wooden, Sr.
Evangelist Leslie Monet, the Director of the Breath to Life Ministries in Raleigh declared” when nearly 1 out of every 2 women in North Carolina according to the NC Department of Health and Human Services that have an abortion is a black woman. It is clear that we have a predatory organization disproportionately targeting black women…and Planned Parenthood fits that bill.”
Valerie Johnson, the Vice President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of NC also supports the words of the Lt. Governor. “Margaret Sanger’ words betray Planned Parenthood; it was Sanger that wrote we do not want word to get out that we want to exterminate the black population and that is the horrific reality happening to the black community today.”
Rev. Kevrick McKain from Eden and Vice President at the Douglass Leadership Institute, an event organizer, “in the final analysis, we need leaders like Dan Forest that are courageous on this issue. The black community is being brutalized and it has to stop.”
