DLI’s 2024 Juneteenth Jubilee

June 21 @ 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

The Douglass Leadership Institute (DLI), a non-profit, national grassroots organization created to educate, equip and empower faith and community leaders to embrace and apply Biblical principles in life and in the marketplace will host Juneteenth Jubilee on Friday, June 21, 9:00 a.m. at Tysons Corner Marriott, Tysons Corner, VA.

The program will include an Apostolic Blessing by Bishop Wellington Boone, Prelate of the Fellowship of International Churches, a tribute to the late Bishop Dean Nelson, presentation of the Dean Nelson Legacy Award to the Nelson Family and a Keynote Address from the Honorable Kenneth Blackwell, Retired U.S. Ambassador and serves on the United Nations Human Rights Commission. The speaker line-up will include the Honorable Kay Cole James, Founder, Gloucester Institute, Jeff Bradford, Human Coalition, Bob Woodson, Founder, The Woodson Center and remarks by Bishop Garland Hunt, President, Douglass Leadership Institute. The program will also feature presentation of the Frederick Douglass Awards to Kevin Cochran and Dr. Alveda King.

DLI is dedicated to Strengthening the Black Family, which touches on so many much-needed initiatives such as protecting the unborn, education, economic empowerment and opportunity and faith-based criminal justice reform—all under the canopy of a Biblical worldview. The incredible true story of Frederick Douglass shines light on the principles of righteousness, justice, liberty and virtue—which aligns perfectly with the work of DLI.

“The Juneteenth Jubilee is a stellar celebration of freedom, which is liberating and, rests on the foundation of freedom in Christ,” said Garland Hunt, President-Douglass Leadership Institute.  “A personal relationship with Jesus Christ grants us true freedom and is the underpinning of our work to strengthen the Black family because we can’t lift these principles of righteousness, justice, liberty and virtue without God’s guiding hands. Our program will honor the accomplishments of our beloved founder Bishop Dean Nelson, acknowledge the incredible work already done and give us encouragement for the journey ahead.”

During the program Bishop Garland Hunt will deliver a State of the Douglass Leadership Institute Address. For more information about the Douglass Leadership Institute’s Juneteenth Jubilee go to: www.dlinstitute.org/juneteenth/
